The Best Tinted Moisturizer for your Skin Type

A Tinted Moisturizer is a perfect blend of a foundation and a moisturizer. So if you are someone who loves to wear light makeup on an everyday basis or even on special occasions, tinted moisturizers are the way to go.

These are a huge hit nowadays, because, unlike traditional foundations, tinted moisturizers give your skin the right amount of coverage for a glowy, flawless complexion without the heaviness of the foundation.

Tinted moisturizers are also marketed as skin tints. I have to admit, I am a fan of tinted moisturizers and skin tints for natural glowy complexion and have tried so many out there. So, today I decided to rank them from best to worst. I have a combination-oily skin for reference.

My favorite Tinted Moisturizers from best to worst:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

Starting it off on a positive note, if there is one tinted moisturizer, that is the holy grail status for me, it has to be the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I have been using it for more than 3 years now, and you will always find it in my makeup cabinet.

This is the tinted moisturizer that I feel has the best of both worlds. It has the texture, look and feel of a tinted moisturizer and gives a very lightweight feel on the skin, but at the same time, also gives very good coverage. You can also build it up to a very medium coverage foundation-like feel, and it will still work without looking cakey.

It also lasts a long time on my skin and looks so natural and good throughout the day. It is not too dewy, not too matte, but has a silky finish that will work with both oily and combination skin. I am not sure if you have very dry skin, you would really love this as much.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer

This comes very close to Laura Mercier for me. The only reason it ranks second is that when my skin is super oily in summer, it can make me look a bit dewier than I like. But, if you have dry combination skin, you would love this for all seasons.

I wear it in rotation with my Laura Mercier daily because I love the skin-like finish it gives my skin. Every time I wear it, I receive so many compliments on my skin. This feels like a moisturizer to me and feels very lightweight on the skin.

I have worn with a full face of makeup on, or just by itself for the perfect no makeup, makeup days.

Fenty Skin Tint

Next, we have a product that just swept me of my feet, quite literally. I was not expecting much from it, to be honest. But I am in love with it.

This is third on the list, only because it is a pretty new product for me and I have used it only for a couple of months. But, it has quickly become one of the holy grail products for me.

The coverage of Fenty Eaze drop is much more than the Laura Mercier or the Bare minerals tinted moisturizer. It is more comparable to the very lightweight foundation. What I love the most about this skin tint is, it makes your face look completely poreless and flawless. It’s like adding the “Paris filter” on the Instagram stories, haha. (no but for real).

It will make your skin so smooth and flawless looking. It is also very natural-looking, and lightweight. I reach for it when I want a little bit more coverage than the regular day-to-day tinted moisturizers, but don’t want to wear a foundation. I know I can depend on this.

I feel like this would work for all the skin types, unless you have extremely dry skin, then this may not work for you. The best thing is the shade range, with so many shades, I am sure you will be able to find the perfect one for you.

IT Cosmetics CC Cream

Next on the list, is a holy grail product for a lot of people. I have personally used it in rotation throughout the years as well. I found myself using it a lot more before I found the Laura Mercier and the Fenty Beauty Skin Tint.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great product, I just have found other products right now, which I am loving a lot more. But, I know whenever I go back to the IT cosmetics Tinted Moisturizer, it will always treat me right.

It has a medium coverage which is more like a lightweight foundation. As the product mentions, it does give “your skin but better” look. I find that it lasts well throughout the day and gives my skin a natural finish. Perfect for occasions too.

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer

Last but not the least, is the Nars tinted moisturizer. I have purchased it multiple times in the past. This is beautiful! It’s such a nice, light coverage product that effectively evens out my skin tone and provides a very natural finish to my skin. I really like the fact it has SPF in it.

It works great for me in the fall and spring when the humidity is not that high. For me, since I have oily-combination skin, it makes me look greasy in summer and does not last a long time. That is the only downside.

If you have normal skin or are even dry, you can definitely give this one a try and would love the radiant skin-like finish of this tinted moisturizer.

2 Tinted Moisturizers/Skin Tint you should avoid if you have Oily Combination Skin:

  1. Glowish by Huda Beauty

This is a pretty new product, and keep in mind I have used it only once or twice. There is quite a bit of hype around this product. It is a new product from Huda Beauty.

This product is incredibly dewy. Usually, I do like dewy products, that give my skin a natural radiance. But this one, makes me look greasy. You can use it in a couple of different ways, like a skin tint, a glowy base under a foundation, and as a highlight on the cheeks.

Since I have combination oily skin, this is a no for me. It makes my skin look patchy and cakey. If you have dry skin, you might like this.

2. Kosas Tinted Face Oil

The Kosas Tinted Face oil is a hard pass for me since it makes me feel like a grease ball, quite literally. It is not at all long-lasting on my oily-combination skin. Again, if you have dry skin it might work for you.
